Tour Reviews
Fantastic Sicily
Hi Manuela,
I am writing to you with some feedback from our recent tour of Sicily. Our Sicily tour with Secret Travels exceeded all expectations. The tour program was excellent and quite varied that included a cooking class in Taormina, wine tastings at Mt Etna and an island boat ride in addition to visiting all the key historical sites. Accommodation was of a premium level with comfortable bedding and always well located. The standout for us was high standard of the lunches and dinners provided, including some delightful wines. The food and wine experience was a definite highlight. Rosie, our tour guide, was fantastic and we had a lot of laughs. We thoroughly enjoyed our travel experience with Secret Travels and the fellowship of our tour group.
Captivating Sicily....The Best
Dear Aldo and Katrin, Manuela
Paul and I are writing to tell you how much we enjoyed our Sicily tour in September. Our guide, Rosy, was fun, informative and helpful. We loved her sense of humour and her explanation of Sicilian people and culture. She was especially empathetic and helpful when Paul required a doctor for an infection; not only did she arrange the doctor to come to the hotel, she also continued to communicate with him until the infection was cleared. Even after hours, Rosy showed us around towns, pointing out restaurants and shops that may interest us. On the bus, We liked the fact that Rosy suggested that everyone should move to different seats each day, and that she was clear about the time and place to meet at each site. Another example of Rosy’s helpfulness was at the end of the trip making sure we got to the airport in Catania. This tour had a great itinerary, excellent accommodation, wonderful restaurants and amazing experiences. It was well balanced with tours and free time. We loved not worrying about our bags between hotels, and were pleased not to have to move too often.
We will definitely recommend this tour to anyone wanting to have a memorable Sicily experience. The boat trip and cooking lesson in a private home were the perfect way to end the tour and farewell new friends.
Wonderful experience!
My family participated in the Captivating Sicily tour in May of 2025. I seldom write reviews, but this trip truly merits one. I’ll begin with the sites we visited – they were very impressive! We spent little or no time waiting in line and benefitted from knowledgeable, interesting local guides. If you were to examine a list of “must see” sites in Sicily, this tour would include virtually all of them. Our hotels were lovely and centrally located, with bountiful breakfasts included. It is fair to say that the other included meals were special events to be savored. One of the advantages of our small group was being transported in a comfortable and well equipped small bus. Our driver Gaetano was professional and courteous. He got us safely to some very out of the way locations! Having said all of that, the best part of the trip was our guide Rosy. She was an absolute gem: expert at keeping us organized, provided spot on food and activity recommendations, gave us interesting local insights, and accommodated individual requests without compromising the itinerary. We brought our children, ages 21 and 24, and although they were the youngest participants by far, they had a wonderful experience and enjoyed the company of our fellow travelers very much. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS TRIP!!
A wonderful tour of Sicily
Dear Katrin and Aldo
I’ve just returned from my tour to Sicily and want to pass on to you … GRAZIE MILLE !!! It was fantastic!!! This was my first trip to Sicily and I loved it. The scenery, the history, the colours, the food, the whole atmosphere … wow! The accommodation was lovely, especially the beautiful Hotel Baglio Della Luna in Agrigento – the terrace where you could sit and enjoy a lovely crisp Sicilian white wine while admiring the view over the Valley of the Temples was magic. As was the view from the terrace of our hotel in Taormina – yes, just last week I was watching the sunset colours around the summit of Etna … little knowing that only a few days later, the view would be slightly more … explosive!!! In particular, I must congratulate and thank our guide, Giusy. Her knowledge and passion for all things Sicilian, her professionalism, her patience, her humour, her sensitivity to the needs of various members of the group – all of these attributes made her a perfect choice for this role. She helped me with my pronunciation of place-names (ER-rich-ay, SA-voca, CHEF – alu) and grammatical questions based on my very shabby studies of Italian, as well as providing a wealth of information and entertaining details about her island home. The local guides also shared their knowledge and secret stories of life in these special places. Our visit to Corleone, where our guide talked about his family’s deeply conflicting connections to the Cosa Nostra, was a highlight! And the food … I particularly loved the market food in Ortigia and the fun (and frustration!!) of creating our own pasta for our last dinner in Taormina. (I just felt embarrassed that I couldn’t manage to eat all the food at the lovely family home hosted lunch in Mitogio). The visit to the winery on Mt Etna with the wine tasting and lovely food was another highlight! So, thank you so much for creating such a wonderful experience – it’s inspired me to learn more about Sicily’s fascinating past and its current challenges. My only “criticism” – I wish I’d been able to spend more time at many of these spectacular sights – maybe next time??
Sicily tour; the people, the architecture, the food!
This was our first vacation with Secret Italy Tours, and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The itinerary was thoughtfully organized, the hotels were ideally located and the included meals were simply out of this world ! Our tour guide, Rasaria Licandro, was incredibly knowledgeable and generous with information throughout the trip. We would highly recommend this itinerary and company to others. Overall, it offers excellent value for money for someone who’s looking for a high end vacation.
