Baroque churches and magnificent palaces are all around what was once the home of a Sicilian noble. Lovingly restored by the charming La Rosa family to provide comfortable rooms, the intimate Locanda still retains all its best features-original stone walls, vaulted ceilings, and characterful wooden beams.
Just a pleasant 10 minute walk away is the hotel’s superb gastronomic restaurant, which boasts one of the finest and extensive wine lists in Sicily, as well as an excellent five course “tasting menu”. This interesting area is very much a gastronomic centre, where visitors can taste and buy some of the top Sicilian wines and olive oil.Another unique facility of the Locanda is its private area of the white sandy beach about 20 km away in the lively Marina di Ragusa. From the Locanda you can easily explore other interesting Baroque towns such as Ispica and Modica and perhaps take a trip to see the ceramics at Caltagirone or thne amazing Roman mosaics at Piazza Armerina.

Upon arrival at Catania airport, you will be transferred to the charming hill town of Ragusa Ibla in East Sicily which boasts centuries of glorious architecture and art treasure for your four nights at a charming boutique hotel, located a short walk from the town center. After an opportunity to rest and freshen up in your beautiful room, you will be treated to an included aperitif at the hotel bar followed by a gourmet dinner in a renowned restaurant.

Your day begins with a walking tour in the historic treasures of Ragusa Ibla famous for its labyrinth of crooked lanes and tiny squares in the company of a local guide. As we explore this UNESCO world heritage site, we’ll behold richly ornamented baroque structures, elaborate balconies, and sumptuously decorated churches. A highlight among highlights is the 18th-century San Giorgio Duomo located in the center of the town, boasting its neo-classical dome added in 1820. Afterwards, meet your driver for a short drive to the Sicilian countryside to visit a boutique winery for a wine tasting during which we’ll have the opportunity to personally experience its renowned products. Dinner is on your own this evening.

A full day’s journey today takes you south-east to witness the splendors of the Sicilian Baroque architecture, part of a UNESCO world heritage site. In 1693, in the wake of a mighty eruption of Etna, this corner of Sicily was devastated by an earthquake. Towns were rapidly rebuilt out of the glowing local limestone. We start visiing the splendid baroque town of Modica for a tasting of its local chocolate and its amazing architecture. We then continue to the unesco town of Ispica, with its remarkable ensemble of honey-color buildings, strikingly uniform in style, an extraordinary baroque architecture. Dinner is on your own this evening.
