You will fall in love with the Mole Antonelliana, a symbol of Turin and a former Jewish synagogue. After tasting local life in Turin with typical Bicerin, you will have the rest of the day to enjoy and explore at your own pace, visiting the Egyptian Museum (including an entrance ticket), featuring Italy’s most impressive collection of Egyptian antiquities.

The palace includes the main building as well as the largest park, which we are welcome to wander and enjoy. You’ll have the evening to enjoy the wonderful sights and sounds of Turin.

Accommodation: Overnight in Turin

Day 4: Truffle, Grinzane Castle & The Beautiful Langhe Region

This morning, we will leave Turin for the Piedmont countryside, one of Italy’s most picturesque regions. Towering mountains, valleys, vineyards, and castles fill the scenery as we head toward our first exciting activity of the day, learning on the truffle. Along with an expert Trifula (truffle hunter) and his dog, we will be led along a scenic wooded trail to hunt for truffles. Along the way, you’ll learn about the local history and traditions, as well as the many unique products that this area has to offer. The highlight of this adventure is undoubtedly discovering the world-famous, prized white truffles of Alba. Afterward, we will bring our treasures back for a tasting of fresh truffle with pasta and wine. In the afternoon, we’ll explore the fairytale Grinzane Castle, nestled among the vines, which was constructed during the 11th century. The views of the surrounding countryside that burst with the season’s colours are jaw-dropping. Afterward, we’ll drive to a country hotel, where you’ll stay for the next two nights. You’ll have the evening on your own to explore the town.

Day 5: Romantic Alba & The Barbaresco Wine Region

Our day begins with a drive to the charming town of Alba, where our local guide will take us on a tour through the narrow streets to taste some of the gourmet specialties that put this region on the map, like fresh truffles, cheeses, and decadent chocolates. Alba is a pleasant agricultural centre famous for its wine, hazelnuts, and white truffles. Like many towns in Italy, Alba is built over Roman ruins, which we’ll stop and explore along the way. In the afternoon, we will reach the small town of Barbaresco, famous for one of Italy’s most treasured wines. The town itself is postcard-worthy with its picturesque location, surrounded by vineyards, winding roads, and an 11th-century tower that watches over it all. At its heart is the production of Barbaresco wine – It is hard to believe these famous big and bold reds come from such a tiny hamlet. We’ll ascend its tower to take in the amazing panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, with vineyards as far as the eye can see. We’ll cap off the day with a visit to a family-run boutique winery passionate about their wines and wine-making process. We will enjoy dinner together tonight at a local Michelin star restaurant.

Meals: Breakfast and dinner included, lunch on your own

Day 6: Enchanting Asti & The Barolo Wine Region

Today’s trip begins with a visit to the mediaeval town of Asti. Here, our local guide will introduce us to the charming cobblestone streets and ornate architecture of the city. Asti is renowned for its spumante, a carbonated wine in this region. The verdant area just south of Turin is one of Italy’s most famous wine-producing regions, rivalled only by Tuscany. It’s best known for its full-bodied reds like Barolo and Barbaresco. Afterward, we’ll continue for a scenic stop by La Morra Village, where we will enjoy breathtaking views over the vineyards and mediaeval castles that scatter across the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Langhe Hills. We’ll take a wine-tasting tour of the cantinas and elegant wine venues, where you’ll learn all about Barolo wine and why it is one of Italy’s most distinguished wines through a tour and lunch. In the late afternoon, we’ll head to Aosta for our last two nights. You’ll be staying at a central boutique hotel, with breakfast included.

Today, you’ll discover the small region of Valle D’Aosta and Aosta, a beautiful city founded by Romans in 25 BC. You can still see many traces of that era today in the Arch of Augustus, the Porta Praetoria, the Roman theatre, and the town walls, all covered in our morning walking tour. After our tour, we’ll sample a delicious Alpine cheese made with milk from cows that are native to the Aosta Valley—the Italian Pezzata Rossa and the Pezzata Nera cows. You’ll find this semi-firm, cooked, and pressed cheese to have a rich and nutty flavour reminiscent of truffles. You’ll enjoy a nice wine pairing along with the cheese to round off the experience. The afternoon is at your leisure today to soak in the beauty of Aosta. In the evening, we will gather again to enjoy a celebratory dinner in a local restaurant.

Another Masterpiece

16/11/2025

This was our 4th trip through Secret Italia Tours, and each has been great. The food, the venues, our wonderful guide Niki, the hotels, all were top notch. We really knew very little about the area prior to our trip, but from our first day in Porto Venere everything was perfect. Carol and I are amazed at how well Aldo (and his staff) create such consistently great tours. Additionally, they came to our assistance when we had a near disaster created by British Airways during our layover in London. Basically, our tickets to Florence from London were cancelled and we were forced to remain at Heathrow airport for an entire day, setting back our travel and arrival details completely. We really had no idea what we would do. Aldo and his staff took over. They found us a last minute reservation at a hotel in Florence where we had stayed previously. In fact, the new driver that we had for our trip to Porto Venere from Pisa was our old friend Walter from our original Toscano adventure. Aldo’s experienced folks took an unhappy incident and turned it into a very pleasant reunion, so to speak. It was a great surprise seeing our old friend Walter. I must speak about our guide Niki. Aldo, what a terrific addition to your staff. She is smart and caring and organized and clearly loves what she does. We had so much fun with her, and we would happily sign up for any tour that she might lead. And thank you Manuela for all of your help and for tolerating my insisting on speaking or writing in Italian in virtually all of my communication with you. Carol and I highly recommend this trip to beautiful Liguria.

Beautiful Liguria

29/09/2025

Ciao Aldo and Manuela,

Just wanted to let you know that Clare and I had a fantastic time on your tour of Liguria. We both thought it was a great itinerary and well planned. We had never even heard of Liguria before, and we can’t believe what a beautiful place it is. And the food there was out of this world. The seafood was incredibly fresh and the trofie pesto and polpo were amazing. Also had lots of great wine that we had never heard of before! Niki did a great job of running the tour, and seems to have unending energy and enthusiasm. She really was a great tour director.

Best to you all and looking forward to our next adventure with you!

Best regards,

Tom and Clare

Thank you for an excellent tour of the Piedmont!

02/11/2023

Just wanted to let you know that Clare and I really enjoyed our tour, the first time in Italy for me. It’s a beautiful region that was well worth exploring, and the tour guides did a great job filling us with sights and information. The cuisine and the wine were also first-rate, and the cooking class and truffle hunt/picnic are things we won’t soon forget. The pace of the tour was excellent for us to explore on our own or just relax at poolside for an afternoon. It was an excellent experience, and we hope to join you again on a future tour. Thanks for delivering such a wonderful experience! Here’s a picture for you that we took while enjoying sunset and a glass of wine at the hotel.

In Love With The Piedmont Tour

26/10/2023

Ciao Aldo,

I just wanted to let you know that we enjoyed the Piedmont Tour tremendously. It was probably one of the best tours we have ever been on. Felicity Moran was a great guide and was matched perfectly with this tour through Piedmont. All the hotels were excellent, and all our group meals were all culinary experiences that were not to be missed. I especially enjoyed touring the various vineyards and sampling their wines. The truffle hunt was also a once in a lifetime experience. All the small towns in the Barolo and Barbaresco area were especially memorable since Clara and I appreciate the fine wines of this area. Going to Aosta was a great way to end the tour along with its Roman history. The itinerary was perfectly planned. Each day was a memorable experience at a leisurely pace. Thanks again for a great tour and experience visiting Piedmont and Aosta.
