Day 3: Charming Capri and The Alluring Amalfi Coast

In the morning, we’ll travel by ferry to the uniquely beautiful Mediterranean island of Capri, located in the Tyrrhenian Sea off the Sorrentine peninsula. A stark mass of limestone rock rising sheerly through impossibly blue water, Capri is the perfect blend of Mediterranean appeal- a smooth cocktail of vogueish piazzas and cool cafes, Roman ruins, rugged seascapes, and holidaying VIPs, whitewashed buildings and breathtaking views. Today, you’ll be shown an oasis for artists, writers, and celebrities. We’ll also explore beyond the town of Capri and its uphill rival, Anacapri. Those who wish may take a chairlift to the top of Monte Solaro, the highest point on the island, which affords spectacular views of the sea and the Amalfi Coast ( included ticket). We then take a ferry ride back to the mainland to bring us to the Amalfi Coast. Drive to the fishing town of Minori, where we spend the next three nights at the charming “Villa Romana Hotel & Spa” (or similar), a short walk from the main town piazza.

The wild and rugged landscape contrasts with its glamorous reputation to create a wonderfully unique atmosphere. In the morning, drive to the Spanish-looking little town of Amalfi, with its tall white houses built on slopes facing the sea in a beautiful setting. The Islamic-looking layout of the town is characterised by winding alleyways, staircases, and vaulted passages that open out onto little squares. Our local guide takes us through the narrow alleyways behind the tourist streets to see how the locals live. We’ll visit the Duomo of St. Andrew, a gorgeous example of 12th-century Arab-Norman architecture, and the Museum of the Paper. We then drive down to the coastline to board a private boat to admire the stunning coastline from the sea, featuring a visit to the famous romantic town of Positano, the most photogenic village on the entire coast. Its steeply stacked houses are a medley of peach, pink, and terracotta colours. Its near-vertical streets are lined with voguish shops displaying jewellery, clothes, and other wares.
